Next: Evil Twins on the Road

This weekend, the Evil Twins hit the road for a three-bout non-bracketed tournament in St. Louis, MO.  Skate to Thrill is produced by the St.Chux Derby Chix, and if last year’s experience is any indication, it should be a thrilling weekend of roller derby! Interested in coming to watch?  Tickets for Skate to Thrill are available here. $10 for a day pass, $18 for both Saturday and Sunday (individual bout tickets are not available).

TCDG’s Evil Twins, currently ranked 88th in the WFTDA, will face three tough opponents this weekend:

– Burning River (101) from Cleveland, OH

– Junction City (94) from Ogden, UT

– Tiger Bay (60) from Cardiff, Wales

TCDG has played Burning River once before, at the very top of the 2013 season. We lost 189-145, but two years ago seems like a lifetime ago in derby years!  At that point, Burning River ranked 12 places above TCDG, and the final score still felt like a win to the team. We all look forward to playing them again this year — not once, but twice, as we’ll see them again in May as part of a two-bout weekend in Cincinnati.

TCDG hasn’t faced Junction City or Tiger Bay previously, but looks forward to both opportunities to play these tough teams coming from such great distances to take part in the tournament.

We’ll be posting brief updates during the weekend with scores, so stay tuned!

Quick Recap: TCDG Dead Ringers Win!

Dead RingersCongratulations to TCDG’s Dead Ringers, who bring home a WIN from Decatur in their first official away bout under their new name!

The Punishers have been hard at work building up their All-Stars team over the last year, and that work showed on Saturday night at the Decatur Civic Center! Strong pack work from both teams kept scores low, with many jams ending at 0-0.

Twin City’s jammer roster included rookie jammers Sasha Smashmouth and Jamma Wockee, both making strong showings in that role. TCDG appeared to dominate early, though the Punishers took advantage of a power jam to jump forward and take the lead for a short time. TCDG wasted no time in taking advantage of their power jams as well as some strategically-timed star passes to bring in jammers Brass Monke and Bunny McBones. The first half ended with TCDG ahead, 96-56.

The Punishers came back strong in the second half to match TCDG nearly point for point, threatening a lead change throughout the half.  Despite some impressive jamming by Bambi Bloodlust and Amanda Tori Suicide though, the Punishers couldn’t get the lead back.  Final score was 169-126.
